Welcome to the RekoGen Community
RekoGen is built by anime fans, for anime fans. Whether you're here to discover your next favorite series, debate the greatest arcs of all time, or hang out in Forums with people who share your obsessions — you belong here.
We want every corner of RekoGen to feel like sitting down with friends who just get it. That means we all share a responsibility to be respectful, inclusive, and kind — even when we disagree (and trust us, we know the "sub vs. dub" debate gets heated).
These guidelines exist to make sure everyone — regardless of background, identity, or experience level — can enjoy RekoGen without fear of harassment or abuse. Please read them carefully. They apply to all user-generated content across the app, including posts, comments, usernames, profile bios, and profile photos.
Zero Tolerance Policy
RekoGen has a zero tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behavior of any kind. Our community spaces — Forums, comments, profiles, and beyond — are meant to celebrate anime, not tear people down. Content or conduct that violates these guidelines will be removed, and the responsible accounts will face warnings, suspensions, or permanent bans depending on the severity.
We take this seriously because our community can only thrive when everyone feels safe to participate.
What's Not Allowed
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited across all of RekoGen:
Hate Speech
Content that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic. There is no place for bigotry here.
Harassment & Bullying
Targeting another user with repeated unwanted contact, insults, intimidation, or any behavior meant to humiliate, shame, or silence them. Disagreeing with someone's opinion is fine — going after the person is not.
Threats of Violence
Any content that threatens, encourages, or glorifies real-world violence against individuals or groups, whether serious or "joking."
Sexually Explicit Content
Pornographic material, sexually graphic images, or any content that sexualizes minors in any form. This includes posts, profile photos, and linked content.
Spam & Self-Promotion
Flooding Forums or comments with repetitive posts, unsolicited advertising, link farming, scams, or bot-driven content. Keep it genuine.
Doxxing & Sharing Personal Information
Posting or threatening to post someone else's private or personally identifiable information — real name, address, phone number, workplace, or anything else they haven't shared publicly — without their consent.
Impersonation
Pretending to be another user, a public figure, a RekoGen team member, or any entity in a way that is misleading or intended to deceive others.
Untagged Spoilers
Deliberately spoiling major plot points, character deaths, or endings without clear spoiler warnings. We know the pain of an unexpected spoiler — don't inflict it on others. Use spoiler tags whenever you're discussing key story details.
Respect Others & Keep It Constructive
Anime sparks passionate opinions — that's part of why we love it. You're absolutely free to defend your hot takes, rank your favorite characters, or argue why a particular season was a letdown. But there's a line between spirited debate and personal attacks.
- Critique the take, not the person. "That arc was poorly paced" is fair game. "You're an idiot for liking that arc" is not.
- Assume good intentions. Not everyone has seen every show or knows every trope. Be welcoming to newcomers.
- Disagree respectfully. You don't have to agree with everyone, but you do have to treat them with basic decency.
- Uplift the community. Share recommendations, help someone find their next watch, and celebrate what makes anime special.
What Happens If You Break the Rules
When a guideline violation is identified — through user reports or our own moderation — the following actions may be taken:
- Content removal. The offending post, comment, profile photo, bio, or username will be removed immediately.
- Warning. For first-time or minor violations, the user will receive a warning explaining what they did wrong and what's expected going forward.
- Temporary suspension. Repeated or more serious violations may result in a temporary ban from the app.
- Permanent ban. Severe violations (threats, doxxing, CSAM, etc.) or continued patterns of abuse will result in a permanent account ban with no appeal.
We act on reports within 24 hours. Our team reviews every report that comes in and takes appropriate action as quickly as possible. We won't always be able to share the specific outcome with you (to protect everyone's privacy), but rest assured — every report is read and taken seriously.
Reporting Content & Blocking Users
If you see something that doesn't belong on RekoGen, we want to hear about it. Reporting is quick, easy, and confidential.
How to Report
- Tap the three-dot menu (•••) on any post, comment, or profile.
- Select "Report" and choose the reason that best describes the issue.
- Add any additional context if you'd like — it helps us act faster.
- Your report is completely confidential. The other user will never know who reported them.
How to Block
- Visit the user's profile and tap the three-dot menu (•••).
- Select "Block". Blocked users can no longer see your content, send you messages, or interact with your posts.
- You can unblock someone at any time from your settings.
You don't have to wait for things to escalate — if someone makes you uncomfortable, block and/or report them. Your safety and comfort come first.
Where These Guidelines Apply
These Community Guidelines cover all user-generated content on RekoGen. That includes, but is not limited to:
- Forum posts and discussions
- Comments and replies
- Usernames and display names
- Profile bios
- Profile photos and avatars
- Any other content shared within the app
In short: if other users can see it, these guidelines apply to it.
Let's Build Something Great Together
RekoGen is more than an app — it's a community of people who genuinely love anime. These guidelines aren't here to limit what you can say; they're here to protect the space so everyone can enjoy it. The best anime communities are the ones where fans lift each other up, share discoveries, and keep the conversation going.
Thanks for being part of RekoGen. Now go find your next favorite show — and tell the Forum about it.
